If you’re wondering how to earn income at this whole blogging thing, look no further!
In my last article, I went into the blog niches that make good money. Now let’s talk about the specific blogs that are raking in a lot of dough.
While blogging is not a traditional career, I’m willing to bet that you’re also not a traditional kinda person. Do you know what I mean?
Someone who just wants a simple 9 – 5 office job that pays $40k per year and gives you one or two weeks of paid vacation.
Most of my students are:
- Passionate about helping others
- Looking to work at home (or wherever they want)
- Love educating, sharing stories, and writing.
- Unhappy with their current career
Many of my readers are also stay at home dads or moms, looking to earn some extra cash, and if possible, some passive income.
Does that sound like you?
Today, I’m gonna reveal what some of the top blogger are making TODAY so that you fully come to realize the opportunity that’s in front of you.
It’s a complete no-brainer. If you haven’t already, you gotta start a blog right now and stop putting it off!
1. Smart Passive Income
More than a blog, Pat Flynn’s Smart Passive Income is also a podcast and YouTube channel. He’s made more than $2 million in the last 12 months from affiliate marketing, digital products, sponsorships, and more. I have followed Pat more for his podcast than his blog.
2. Making Sense Of Cents
Michelle of Making Sense of Cents made $1.5 million in the last 12 months from her blog, where she educates about finance, lifestyle, and blogging. This comes from affiliate marketing, digital product sales, and sponsorships. Michelle has made a living doing what she loves and now she can work from the comfort of anywhere!
3. Melyssa Griffin
Melissa Griffin earned $283,680 in December of 2016 alone from her blog (though her income varies from $50k – $100k per month in that year). This mainly comes from the sales of online courses, though it also comes from affiliate marketing. I admire her design abilities and how she focuses all of her efforts on getting coaching students.
4. Shout Me Loud
Shout Me Loud is a blog about online marketing, writing, and blogging tips that was created by Harsh Agrawal. He earns about $40k per month from blogging. I have read many of Harsh’s articles and think he’s a great educator when it comes to the blogging niche.
5. Matthew Woodward
Matthew earns about $20 – $25k per month from his blog, which educates on how to get traffic, convert visitors into customers, build your social following, and more. Matthew shows that you do not need to be in the USA to start and grow a blog. In fact, many full-time bloggers are NOT in the US.
6. EOFire
EOFire is a podcast and blog that shares how to start an online business. The founder, John Lee Dumas, interviews successful entrepreneurs and discovers how they built their company.
In 2017, the blog and podcast did $2.7 million in revenue, which came from podcast sponsorships, affiliate revenue, ecommerce, and a membership website.
7. SoOverThis
SoOverThis earns about $10k – $15k minimum from blogging, with some months going into $80k range and others in the $30k range. This comes from Adsense, Advertising sales, and other earnings. Personal finance blogs are all the rave, specially when readers can connect with a real-world personality.
8. Sarah Titus
Sarah Titus runs a blog about essential oils, saving money, earning cash from home, and printable that help you set and achieve goals. In January of 2018, she made $233,476 from her blog. More and more female business owners are taking their talents online!
9. Show Me the Yummy
Show Me the Yummy is run by Trevor and Jennifer who write about food and recipes. They earned $46k in revenue during December of 2016. This is a great example of how many different types of niches can make money from blogging.
10. Johnnyfd
Johnnyfd is a digital nomad and location independent entrepreneur that writes about ecommerce, online business, and digital marketing.
In 2017, he earned $178,376.49 while also traveling to eight countries. The majority of that revenue comes from affiliate marketing.
11. Just a Girl and Her Blog
Abby is a blogger who writes about organization, productivity, decorating tips, and online business advice. While she has stopped producing income reports, her ones from 2015 and 2016 reveal that she earns about $40k per month from her blog.
Who Did I Leave Out?
Honestly? I could have included others in this list like CopyBlogger, Perez Hilton, or Mashable, but I didn’t because they have turned into media companies.
I want to give you a realistic idea of how much income you can earn as a solo entrepreneur or single blogger. While several of the sites above have grown into a team effort (freelancers, etc), many of them are still primarily run by one person.
As you can see, you can earn good income from a blog in 2018. You just have to begin and start your blog today. Why wait? Why keep putting it off!?
I put together an easy-to-follow guide for you here that walks you step-by-step how to start a blog in 15 minutes.
The great thing about blogging is that you can work as much or as little as you’d like. You can earn a lot or a little. It all depends on the type of lifestyle that you want to lead.
